It uses your own telephone line and your local 911service.  We are often asked about transporting the device from state-to-state or home-to-home when visiting someone visits friends or family.  This device will simple plug into any standard home phone line and will dial the local 911 operator regardless where you are.  That 911 operator will know the address and location of when the call is coming from. Even if you can't speak for some reason the operator will have the information needed to sent help. Our system does not require that you be in the same room as the receiver box to get help.  You can talk to the local 911operator anywhere inside your home or in your yard.
